AAPL (Apple, Inc.) is a major component of both the QQQ and SPY indexes. Because AAPL is nearly the largest company by market capitalization, it has an over-weighted effect on the performances of the indexes. Today, AAPL is down close to 10% on warnings of a Q1 Revenue Shortfall. The indexes, especially the QQQs are feeling the negative effects.
